Here's what our Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel looks like installed. Now the main reason you're going to want a sliding 5th wheel such as this one over other options on the market is that this is going to solve two problems that many of our customers encounter.The first problem that many of our customers encounter is that when they have a short bed truck such as this one, you don't have the necessary clearance between your 5th wheel head and the cab of your truck, so when you go to make tight turns you find that you run the risk of having contact with the cab of your truck to the overhang on your 5th wheel trailer. The second problem that people encounter is that when they purchase a slider in order to solve the short bed problems when towing a 5th wheel is that most sliders out there are manual control, which means every time you need to get into a maneuvering position, you have to get out of the truck, operate a handle in order to get your truck into the maneuvering position. This one, however, is automatic with this rack and pinion gear system, so whenever you need to make a turn, just make your turn and it will automatically move your 5th wheel head back without you having to get out of the truck to make any adjustments.With this one going into the underbed mount rails, it functions the same as the one with the above-bed rails. Here you can see as the truck turns it pivots inside the Hijacker unit. more

Now, the reason you're gonna want this particular fifth wheel and slider compared to other options on the market is that if your Ford truck -- such as this one -- has the factory rail system, this drops right in with no modification to the vehicle required at all.Also, you're going to need a slider if your truck does not have an eight-foot bed. This particular truck has a six and three-quarter-foot bed.As we make sharp turns or do tight corners or pull in to gas stations, we run the risk of having the overhang of our fifth wheel contacting the cab of our truck. By having a slider in place, we move the overhang further back, giving us the necessary clearance to make those maneuvers safely without damaging our truck or our trailer.Compared to other options on the market, this one seems easier, to me, to be able to install and remove from the truck if need be -- if we want full access to our bed -- because it is lighter weight. Now, even though this is a lighter-weight unit than some other options on the market, it doesn't sacrifice quality or durability while saving weight. Today we're gonna be taking look at the BMW Companion OEM fifth-wheel trailer hitch with slider for the Ram towing prep package. Part number is DWRVK3670. Now this companion fifth-wheel is designed to go directly into the Ram puck system, so we can get a fifth-wheel hitch put in the bed of the truck that does offer a slider without any bed modifications. That's really key I think, about the puck system and being able to get something like this put in your bed very quickly. Now something that really sets this sliding set up apart from any others is the distance that it actually travels. With this one we've got a very easy to operate lever here on the side. Just gonna slide that into the unlocked position and this gives us a full twelve inches of travel. We'll then move that handle back into the locked position. more

Here we are in the bed of our truck, and here's what it looks like in the bed of our truck, coupled up to our trailer. Now, what separates this 5th wheel from other 5th wheels on the market is our fully articulating head right here, which will provide the correct angle to connect to our kingpin, regardless of the terrain that we are on. If we find ourselves on uneven terrain, this will provide a quick and easy hook-up every time. One key feature that this 5th wheel has, that others don't, is that we have a two pin adjustment point, fore and aft, so we can center our kingpin directly over the center line of our rear axle, providing us the best weight distribution that we possibly can get. We also have a vertical height adjustment here to help adjust it. So, when we are towing our 5th wheel, we can ensure that it's level. Uncoupling from our 5th wheel is super easy. Here's what our fifth wheel with slider looks like when it's fully installed. Since we have a short bed truck it's going allow us to tow a fifth wheel trailer and have enough clearance to make those turns without having to worry about making contact with our cab. If we come to the handle right here, start in a locked position, we can rotate it to the unlocked position. Then we're going to have 12 inches of travel so the fifth wheel can go farther back towards the tailgate, we can make our turn. Then once we straighten out, we can again, come to the handle, unlock it and it'll slide back into the towing position. more

Today we're going to take a look at the B&W Companion Dual Jaw OEM 5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch with the Slider for the Ram towing prep package. This has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2013 and newer Ram trucks with the factory installed towing prep package. Now this 5th-Wheel Hitch is designed to mount in your truck bed so that you can tow your 5th-wheel trailer and again it's designed to work with that factory installed 5th-wheel towing prep package from Ram. This one has a nice built in slider, which will provide extra clearance which is about 12" front to back and that's required for your short bed truck to turn safely at slow speeds. It is a rail free design so it does allow for full access to your truck bed when it is removed from the bed. more

B and W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Review- Video
Today we're gonna be taking a look at the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with slider for Ford towing prep package. Part number BWRVK3370. Our 5th wheel hitch is gonna allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer and since it has a slider base on it it's gonna give us that extra clearance when we're making tight turns so our trailer doesn't come in contact with our cab. Our handle down here, it's gonna have it labeled, is in the lock position. If we go to the unlock position we're gonna be able to slide our hitch a full 12 inches to give us that extra clearance. This is gonna be extremely beneficial for trucks that don't have a full eight foot bed whether you're going to the campground or going through a parking lot with your trailer you can come out, unlock our slider here and we're gonna be able to make those turns and not have to worry about our trailer crushing the side of our cab. The head on our hitch is gonna articulate front to back and side to side. That's gonna help reduce chuck. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with slider for Ford tow prep packages, part number C16520-16020. So here's what our 5th wheel hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer, and even though we have a short bed truck, that's where the slider's going to come in and give us a little bit of that extra clearance. We come to the driver's side of our hitch here, the vertical bar here, it's going to be a latch for our slide. Now this red indicator's letting us know that it's unlocked. When it's in the unlocked position, it's going to allow our hitch to slide back, so when we make a turn, we don't have to worry about our 5th wheel trailer making contact with our cab. more

Husky Silver Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Review HT31326-31196- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Husky Silver Series 16K Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider. Its part number is HT31326-31196. Now, to operate the slider portion, we'll have that right here, and what we'll do here is lift up on our lever. As we do it, it's going to rotate our locking plate up and out of the way, and then that allows us to slide that back, reengage the lever there. Then, we can lock it in that position for a maneuvering position. Now, this delivers 10" of travel, so that's going to get the front of our camper 10" further away from the rear of our vehicle. It's going to make it nice at the low speeds only when we're trying to maneuver into our parking spaces, maybe camp sites and things like that. more

This offers a serrated dual jaws, part number is RP30869.Now let's take a look at a few of the features that are built right into the head of our fifth wheel system here, just before we get it installed, once it's installed it's really tough to see. We'll start with, if you look right down here as this cast center section moves it's got rubber bumpers here designed to take up any of that noise or any of that jarring we might feel. That's gonna help to isolate there as well as on the outside here. This is where it's gonna meet our fifth wheel legs or this is where it's gonna meet our slider. Demco Fifth Wheel - Fixed Fifth Wheel - DM8550043 Review- Video
Today we're going to take a look at the Demco Recon Single Jaw 5th Wheel trailer hitch with a 21,000 pound weight capacity. Now this 5th wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so you can tow your 5th wheel trailer. It uses a nice wraparound single piece jaw that'll provide a secure connection. It gives you 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. That'll give you less rattle, more security, than the slide bar jaws. If you notice in front right up here, there's a 3/4-inch thick solid steel locking bar, which will reinforce the connection of your coupling trailer, and that'll automatically lock into place when the jaw closes. It does use a double pivot hitch head, which will ease hookup, helps limit chucking. more

Curt Fifth Wheel - Sliding Fifth Wheel - C16621 Review- Video
Today, we are going to review part number C16621. This is the CURT Q16 Fifth-Wheel Trailer Hitch with the R16 slider, the base rails and the installation kit all included and this has a sixteen thousand pound weight capacity. Now, this heavy duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch has the dual jaw, has a nice pivoting head and on the very back here it uses a color-coded lock indicator to give you superb safety and security. Now, the two jaw locking system right here provides a three-hundred and sixty degree jaw-to-king pin contact and because of that, it'll give you less rattle, more security than a lot of the Slide-Moore models. This has a self-aligning wide head opening right here you can see for a nice simple hook-up. The way they do that is they use a fully articulating torsion head which gives you controlled coupling and a nice stable, quiet ride. Now, there is two lube points, which for easy access, grease Zerk fittings and they are located on the front of each jaw. more

On any custom fit part, what I always like to recommend is to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you if this will work for your application. This 5th Wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so that you can tow your 5th Wheel Trailer. The part that I'm describing would be the hitch head on the slider. Basically what I'm demonstrating is I'm putting it on this display stand that has the under bed rails that would be on your Ford truck just to show you how it installs, how this would look. This is how it would look in the truck bed of your vehicle. The built-in slider, right down here, this will provide the clearance that's required for your short bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds. more

You can see it's a double-pivot action. It will rock back and forth and side to side, once it's hooked up to a trailer. There's bushings in it right now that are very difficult to move by hand. more

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Q25 dual jaw 5th wheel trailer hitch with the R24 slider, the base rails, the universal installation kit and 24,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this 5th wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so that you can tow your 5th wheel trailer. Uses this non-binding slider that provides 12 inches of clearance that's required for a short bed truck to turn safely at slow speeds. That will prevent the trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during those sharp, slow speed turns. It does slide smoothly on these rounded non-binding rods and the slider is designed for use on trucks with beds that are shorter than 8 foot. It's not recommended for use on truck beds that are shorter than 6 foot. The hitch head on this uses a 2 jaw locking system and that provides a nice 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact. more
